Over the months leading up to this moment, you reading this, right here, right now, I’ve been asked many questions. I believed it to be only respectful to share my responses as, you too, may have similar questions. How beautiful is choice? If you’re interested, you may continue to read, if not…then do not. Always treasure the power of choice. But I digress, that is yet another book.
Q: Where did the book come from…the idea?
A: Short answer: I don’t know. Long Answer: Recently, there was a moment in my life when ‘work’ was threatening spirit. So, I surrendered to my situation and asked my creator to bless me with a genuine thought, an idea that I could share and potentially inspire others. My hope was to create an additional spark of unconditional love for those in my circle of influence.
Have you yourself ever received, what you believed to be, a really good idea while in the car or in the shower? See, you already know what I’m going to say and understand why it’s challenging to express such a thing verbally right?
So, there I was driving my car, windows down, warm breeze against my face…and time stood still for a moment. And the idea just came to me. To write…not necessarily a book but to write. And when I sat down to obey my instinct, what you have read is what poured out. Being a Sagittarius, my concern about not knowing where the ‘idea’ came from never bothered me. For, I was too focused on the joy of receiving it.
Q: Is there a M.O. part II?
A: Absolutely! And I would like you to join me. See more information on the pages after the Q&A.
Q: Why isn’t your picture somewhere in the book?
A: My picture is in the book. I am one of the main character’s photos. For those that know me, I’m an extremely humble human. This book is not about me, it’s about we. It’s less important to me for you to know who I am and more important for you to know who you are. Did this book assist you in some small way to recognize something new about who you are?
Q: The pictures of Reilly, who’s that girl?
A: In a modest yet proud voice, I say to you, that is my daughter.
Q: How much of this book is about your life if any?
A: I’ll say this much. True, there are aspects of my own life painted across the canvas of M.O.; however, it is a collection of experiences. From your point of view; hopefully, that is why you believe it to be so real. M.O. is real. In fact, it’s alive. Again, the story is derived from a collection of experiences shared with me in confidence from special individuals just like you.
Q: What other books have you written?
A: None, this is my first one. You have the same power in you.
Q: How did you come up with the design cover?
A: I was walking into the Addias store and noticed my shoe was untied. After I tied it, I stood up and remained still for a moment. A woman walked by a gorgeous sweat suit outfit and gently rubbed her hands against the fabric. The colors were chocolate brown and a magenta-sih blue. The feeling of that moment made me realize, those are the colors for the cover.
I wanted my grandmother to be comfortable with having M.O. on her coffee table and decided on the letters rather than the words on front. And it makes for great T-shirts (Got M.O. Lately, Men 4 M.O., I love M.O. , and so on.)
Even though I had the vision, my ideas would not have been realized without my graphic designer, Amanda Smith, she brought my vision to life. Thank you Amanda. As a side note, she and I met at gymnastics’ practice. Our daughters were in the same class. Another reminder to always be aware of the people around you.
